Who We Are
About Sequoia Grove Financial Planning
Like the giant sequoia, growth often begins in life’s most challenging seasons. Adapted to survive and regenerate through fire, Sequoias rely on these conditions to release their seeds and create space for renewal — a powerful reminder that resilience and new beginnings can emerge from periods of uncertainty and change.
At Sequoia Grove Financial Planning, we provide thoughtful, personalized financial guidance for women navigating life’s most significant transitions. Inspired by the resilience of the Sequoia—whose renewal is shaped through adversity—we support clients through seasons of change such as divorce, widowhood, career evolution, and other meaningful life changes.

Meet JULIA FARAG, CFP®
For me, financial planning is at its most meaningful when I witness the “aha” moment for my clients. Many women arrive at our first meeting navigating circumstances they didn’t expect or plan for – experiences that can bring fear, uncertainty and sometimes even shame. By the third or fourth meeting, I see a shift: renewed confidence and hope. Together, we create the space to envision the future they truly want – on their terms – and build a thoughtful financial plan to help bring that vision to life.
Before earning my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation, I served as the Executive Director for a national nonprofit organization in Santa Barbara, CA, where I was honored Executive Director of the Year for the Western States Division. After a fulfilling tenure, I moved to Switzerland where I welcomed my first daughter and from then on, devoted several years to caring for my family.
Following my divorce, I found myself seeking a deeper understanding of my own financial future. Despite having been a successful executive, I experienced firsthand the feelings of uncertainty and inadequacy that can arise when navigating the unknown - alone. As I strengthened my own financial literacy, I experienced the shift from feelings of shame to empowerment and confidence. That experience ultimately led me to financial planning and inspired the mission behind Sequoia Grove Financial Planning - helping women, like me.
Today, I live in Encinitas, CA with my two delightful daughters and our rescue dog, Toby. When I’m not working with clients, you’ll likely find me on a weekend getaway, running along the beach, or paddling with my outrigger canoe club, Kai Elua, out of Mission Bay.
I am passionate about helping individuals create the lifestyle and future they envision for themselves. To me, financial planning is both strategic and deeply personal – much like solving a puzzle. Each client brings a unique set of goals, values, and circumstances, and I love helping them thoughtfully bring those pieces together in the most meaningful and impactful way.
